A RESOLUTION
Recognizing July 28, 2019, as "Parents' Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "Parents' Day" is recognized to honor all parents in
this Commonwealth who work tirelessly over the course of their
lives to provide their children with the best possible love and
care; and
WHEREAS, A congressional resolution establishing the fourth
Sunday in July each year as "Parents' Day" was first introduced
on August 5, 1994, in the United States House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS, On October 14, 1994, former President Bill Clinton
signed the resolution with the goal of "recognizing, uplifting,
and supporting the role of parents in bringing up their
children"; and
WHEREAS, Parents play a pivotal role in the lives of their
children and are the core of our local communities; and
WHEREAS, "Parents' Day" commemorates parenthood and

appreciates all parents, including mothers and fathers,
grandmothers and grandfathers, great-grandmothers and great-
grandfathers, stepmothers and stepfathers and foster mothers and
foster fathers and their contributions to society; and
WHEREAS, On the fourth Sunday of July each year, Americans
recognize outstanding parents, celebrate the teamwork in raising
children, and support the role of parental guidance in building
a strong and stable society; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the nation in almost every state,
community leaders organize "Parents' Day" events to honor
parents, which can include presenting awards to incredible
parents in towns and neighborhoods across the United States; and
WHEREAS, At the national level, the Universal Peace
Federation sponsors an award ceremony, inviting and hosting
state nominees to a Parents of the Year Banquet in Washington,
DC, with members of Congress and other dignitaries; and
WHEREAS, The guidance and unconditional love of parents helps
to create a nurturing environment so that children can grow and
reach their full potential; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize July
28, 2019, as "Parents' Day" in Pennsylvania.
