A RESOLUTION
Recognizing July 17, 2019, as "Hot Dog Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Hot dogs are one of America's favorite and most
patriotic foods; and
WHEREAS, While its roots go back to the sausage-makers from
Vienna and Frankfurt, Americans popularized the hot dog on a bun
as we know it today; and
WHEREAS, The story of the hot dog is the story of the
industrious immigrant, the genius of marketing, the creative
cook, the child at the ballpark and the illustrious academic;
and
WHEREAS, Meat and poultry processors in the United States
produce more than 2 billion pounds of hot dogs each year; and
WHEREAS, More than 325,000 American workers are involved in
the production of hot dogs nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Philadelphia is the third-largest hot-dog-consuming
city in the United States; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize July
17, 2019, as "Hot Dog Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the
cultural significance of this staple of American life found in
many variations across this Commonwealth; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
citizens to celebrate the iconic status of the hot dog in
American and Pennsylvanian culture.
