A RESOLUTION
Recognizing June 28, 2019, as "National Logistics Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The logistics industry, which includes the
packaging, warehousing and shipping of goods, plays an important
role in national, state and global economies; and
WHEREAS, The logistics industry is responsible for shipping
goods via air, truck, rail and sea; and
WHEREAS, These shipments can be delivered across town or to
countries all around the world; and
WHEREAS, Whether delivering raw products to a manufacturer,
finished products to a retailer or the consumer getting a
product delivered to their door, logistics is critical to
society; and
WHEREAS, The third-party logistics industry represents an
$800 billion industry; and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Department of

Transportation, Pennsylvania shipped more than 400,000 tons of
goods valued at more than $278 million just within its borders
in 2017; and
WHEREAS, It does not matter if a business is a small family
operation or a corporation operating globally, without a strong
logistics system in place a business cannot succeed, whether it
is by truck, rail, air or sea, goods need to be transported to
the consumer; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize June
28, 2019, as "National Logistics Day" in Pennsylvania.
