A RESOLUTION
Designating May 22, 2019, as "Emergency Medical Services for
Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Children and adults have different needs in a
medical emergency or traumatic emergency; and
WHEREAS, More than 30 million children receive emergency
medical care each year due to illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, Partnerships within the emergency medical services
community have reduced disability and death among children and
youths; and
WHEREAS, Properly trained emergency personnel, sufficiently
equipped ambulances, pediatric-ready emergency departments and
well-defined pediatric treatment protocols and procedures are
elements of State and community preparedness systems; and
WHEREAS, The Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC)
Program coordinates and serves the tens of thousands of
emergency medical services providers, acute care providers and

professional organization partners who improve the quality of
emergency medical care children receive; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes EMSC
providers, contributors and partners whose vital presence in our
communities promotes high-level pediatric emergency medical care
in keeping with children's unique needs; therefore be
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 22,
2019, as "Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day" in
Pennsylvania.
