A RESOLUTION
Designating May 6 through 12, 2019, as "Fallen Firefighters
Survivors' Week" in Pennsylvania and May 8, 2019, as "Fallen
Firefighters Survivors' Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Firefighters, whether volunteer or career, bravely
serve the people of this Commonwealth every day; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of firefighters in this Commonwealth risk
their lives with each emergency call they respond to while on
duty; and
WHEREAS, Tragically, not all firefighters who respond to
emergency calls make it back to their fire stations alive; and
WHEREAS, Each fallen firefighter leaves behind family and
other loved ones as well as fellow firefighters; and
WHEREAS, The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF)
was created by the Congress of the United States in 1992 to lead

a nationwide effort to remember America's fallen firefighters;
and
WHEREAS, Since that time, the NFFF has developed and expanded
programs to honor our fallen heroes and remember their families
and coworkers; and
WHEREAS, The NFFF also provides resources to assist the
survivors of fallen firefighters and works within the fire
service community to reduce firefighter injuries and death; and
WHEREAS, The NFFF receives no direct Federal funding, but
instead relies on grants, individual and corporate donations and
fundraising events; and
WHEREAS, Because firefighters are constantly available to
serve this Commonwealth, it is fitting that we honor the
firefighting community whenever possible and recognize the
survivors of fallen firefighters; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 6
through 12, 2019, as "Fallen Firefighters Survivors' Week" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 8,
2019, as "Fallen Firefighters Survivors' Day" in Pennsylvania.
