A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of April 2019 as "The Month of the Young
Child" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, There are approximately 300,000 children from three
to four years of age in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Studies have shown that by the age of five, a
child's brain is 90% developed, making Pre-K education one of
the most crucial periods of development in a person's life; and
WHEREAS, Access to high-quality early learning educational
programs, such as Pre-K and Head Start, help prepare young
children for a successful educational career; and
WHEREAS, Research has shown that children from low-income
households who receive high-quality early education are more
likely to be prepared for and do better in school, graduate from
high school, have higher intelligence quotients and attend
college than their peers who do not experience a high-quality
early learning program; and
