A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and service of Staff Sergeant Christopher K.A.
Slutman, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty
while serving the United States Marine Corps, and extending
condolences to his family and friends.
WHEREAS, On April 8, 2019, Staff Sergeant Christopher K.A.
Slutman was one of three United States Marines killed in the
line of duty while conducting combat operations near Bagram
Airfield, Bagram, Afghanistan; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Slutman was born in York County, and
his parents currently reside in Lower Windsor Township; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Slutman grew up in Maryland and
graduated from Frederick Douglass High School; and
WHEREAS, He was a decorated member of the Fire Department of
the City of New York; and

WHEREAS, In 2005, he joined the United States Marine Corps;
and
WHEREAS, In 2019, he was serving in his fourth deployment,
and over the course of his career he had earned several medals,
including two Iraq Campaign Medals, a Military Outstanding
Volunteer Service Medal and four certificates of commendation;
and
WHEREAS, Two of the fallen Marines were assigned to 2nd
Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Slutman's unit was based in
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, The men had deployed to Afghanistan in October 2018
as part of a program in which Marines train and advise Georgian
infantry troops on the NATO mission; and
WHEREAS, Tragically, the three men were just 10 days from
returning home; and
WHEREAS, He is survived by his parents, his wife and three
daughters; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
and service of Staff Sergeant Christopher K.A. Slutman, who
tragically lost his life in the line of duty while serving the
United States Marine Corps, and extending condolences to his
family and friends.
