A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Pennsylvania Jaycees on the 80th anniversary of its
founding.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees is a nonprofit organization
of active young residents 18 to 40 years of age who are engaged
and dedicated to creating a positive impact in their
communities; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Junior Chamber of Commerce was
founded on May 1, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre; and
WHEREAS, The name of the organization was later changed to
the Pennsylvania Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees is an affiliate of JCI USA,
which has 584 chapters and approximately 12,000 members
nationwide; and
WHEREAS, There are 19 chapters and 375 members of the
Pennsylvania Jaycees, including two institutional chapters
organized to provide an opportunity for incarcerated

Pennsylvanians to better themselves during the course of a
criminal sentence; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Pennsylvania Jaycees is to
provide development opportunities that empower young people to
create positive change; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees gather active residents
from all segments of the population to develop the skills,
knowledge and understanding needed to make informed decisions
and take action; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Pennsylvania Jaycees lend their
time and talents to a wide variety of charitable and community-
centered causes and activities; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees is celebrating the 80th
anniversary of its founding on May 1, 2019; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the
Pennsylvania Jaycees on the 80th anniversary of its founding;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives join the
officers, members and alumni of the Pennsylvania Jaycees in
celebrating the 80th anniversary of its founding.
