A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of March 2019 as "National Athletic
Training Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Quality health care is vital for individuals who are
physically active; and
WHEREAS, Licensed athletic trainers have a long history of
providing quality health care for athletes and individuals
engaged in physical activities; and
WHEREAS, Athletic trainers are able to reduce injury and
shorten rehabilitation time for patients, leading to reduced
absenteeism from work or school and reduced health care costs;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic training encompasses the prevention,
examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of
emergent, acute and chronic injuries and medical conditions; and
WHEREAS, Athletic training is recognized by the American
Medical Association, the United States Health Resources and

Services Administration and the Department of Health and Human
Services as an allied health care profession; and
WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
represents and supports more than 45,000 members of the athletic
training profession employed in professional sports, colleges
and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals, corporate
and industrial settings and the military; and
WHEREAS, Leading organizations have joined together to raise
public awareness of athletic training by emphasizing the
importance of quality health care for athletes and individuals
who are physically active, improving health care and promoting
licensed athletic trainers as allied health professionals;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of March 2019 as "National Athletic Training Month" in
Pennsylvania.
