AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in pupils and attendance, providing
for protective barriers on school buses.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 1368. Protective Barriers on School Buses.--(a) An
owner of a school bus may install a protective barrier around or
near the seat of the driver of the school bus for the purposes
of providing protection to the driver from infectious diseases.
(b) As part of the equipment inspection required under 67
Pa. Code Ch. 171 (relating to school buses and school vehicles),
the Pennsylvania State Police may inspect an installed
protective barrier described in subsection (a) to ensure that

the protective barrier complies with the State standards.
(c) As used in this section, the term "owner" means a school
district or a school bus transportation contractor.
Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
