AN ACT
Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in matters affecting
government units, further providing for limitations on
damages.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 8553(b) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
ยง 8553. Limitations on damages.

(b) Amounts recoverable.--Damages arising from the same
cause of action or transaction or occurrence or series of causes
of action or transactions or occurrences shall not exceed
$500,000 in the aggregate. The limitation under this subsection
shall not apply to an individual who:
(1) suffers damage to owner-occupied real property; and
(2) meets the time requirements of sections 5522(a)
(relating to six months limitation) and 5524(4) (relating to
two year limitation).
