AN ACT
Amending the act of November 10, 1999 (P.L.491, No.45), entitled
"An act establishing a uniform construction code; imposing
powers and duties on municipalities and the Department of
Labor and Industry; providing for enforcement; imposing
penalties; and making repeals," in training and certification
of inspectors, further providing for training of inspectors.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 701 of the act of November 10, 1999
(P.L.491, No.45), known as the Pennsylvania Construction Code
Act, is amended by adding a subsection to read:
Section 701. Training of inspectors.

(c.1) Inactive status of certification.--
(1) The department may by regulation establish a
procedure for a code administrator to request to have the
code administrator's certification under subsection (c)
maintained on inactive status.
(2) Reactivation of a certificate may occur upon the
passage of required examinations demonstrating knowledge of

the standards under Chapter 3, provided that reactivation may
not be granted if more than four years have passed since the
expiration of the certification.
(3) Requests to have a certification maintained in
inactive status shall be granted if the applicant
demonstrates just cause for requiring the inactive status.
(4) For the purposes of this subsection, the term "just
cause" means reasons for inactivity which include, but are
not be limited to, personal or family-related reasons or
temporary relocation outside of this Commonwealth.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
