AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in Pennsylvania Board of Probation and
Parole, further providing for parole power.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 6137 of Title 61 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
ยง 6137. Parole power.

(g.1) Electronic monitoring devices.--
(1) The board may not release a person on parole who, as
a term or condition of the person's parole, is subject to an
electronic monitoring device, unless a telephone landline
exists and is in operating condition at the dwelling where
the eligible offender will reside and the telephone landline
will permit the electronic monitoring device to function
properly.
(2) After a person to whom paragraph (1) applies is

released from a correctional institution or county prison, a
parole officer shall escort the person from the correctional
institution or county prison to a parole office where an
electronic monitoring device shall be placed on the person.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
