AN ACT
Amending Title 61 (Prisons and Parole) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in miscellaneous provisions relating
to inmate confinement, providing for information on health
care screenings for incarcerated individuals.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 61 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
ยง 5908. Information on health care screenings for incarcerated
individuals.
(a) Reports.--The correctional institution shall annually
submit a report on health care screenings for incarcerated
individuals to all of the following:
(1) The Health and Human Services Committee of the
Senate.
(2) The Health Committee of the House of
Representatives.
(3) The Human Services Committee of the House of

Representatives.
(b) Contents.--The report under subsection (a) shall include
all of the following information:
(1) The correctional institution's response time to DC-
500, Sick Call Requests.
(2) The number of DC-500, Sick Call Requests.
(3) The number of incarcerated individuals who opt out
of receiving health care screenings or health care services.
(4) The number of emergency services used in each
correctional institution.
(5) The number of specialty off-site health care
services used by incarcerated individuals.
(6) The total number of incarcerated women and girls who
have received health care screenings.
(7) The total number of pregnant incarcerated women and
girls who have received health care screenings.
(8) The total number of live births and stillbirths by
incarcerated women and girls.
(9) The total number and type of maternal complications.
(10) The number of specialty on-site health care
services used by incarcerated individuals.
(c) Guidelines.--The correctional institution shall provide
all incarcerated individuals with comprehensive written
guidelines regarding the correctional institution's health care
screening procedures and information on preventative screenings.
The following apply:
(1) The guidelines used by the correctional institution
should follow national guidelines, such as those used by
insurance companies, that include information on the
recommended preventative screening guidelines based on age

and gender.
(2) The correctional institution shall also provide all
incarcerated individuals with updated guidelines under this
subsection as the correctional institution deems necessary to
keep the incarcerated individuals informed.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
