AN ACT
Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in financial responsibility, further providing for
required financial responsibility.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1786 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
ยง 1786. Required financial responsibility.

(e.1) Obligation of notice regarding new contract.--
(1) An insurer who has issued a new contract of motor
vehicle liability insurance, or any approved self-insurance
entity, shall notify the following of the new contract:
(i) The Department of Transportation in a timely
manner and in a method prescribed by the department's
regulations.
(ii) The lienholder of the motor vehicle, if any,

within 10 days of the issuance of the new contract.
(iii) The person leasing the motor vehicle to the
insured, if any, within 10 days of the issuance of the
new contract.
(2) A violation of paragraph (1) shall be deemed to be
an unfair or deceptive act or practice in violation of the
act of December 17, 1968 (P.L.1224, No.387), known as the
Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
