AN ACT
Requiring certain establishments to train staff on the Heimlich
maneuver techniques and imposing duties on the Department of
Labor and Industry.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Short title.
This act shall be known and may be cited as the Heimlich
Maneuver Training Act.
Section 2. Heimlich maneuver training for staff.
(a) General rule.--The owner or operator of a restaurant,
hotel or other establishment that serves food to customers on
its premises shall provide Heimlich maneuver training to all of
the following employees of the restaurant, hotel or
establishment at all locations where food is served for
consumption on the premises:
(1) Food servers.
(2) Supervisors.
(b) Training.--Heimlich maneuver training shall be conducted

in accordance with the regulations promulgated under subsection
(c).
(c) Regulations.--The Department of Labor and Industry shall
promulgate regulations for the training required under
subsection (a).
Section 3. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
