A RESOLUTION
Designating July 31, 2018, as "Heatstroke Prevention Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Heatstroke is the leading cause of noncrash vehicle-
related fatalities for children who are 14 years of age or
younger; and
WHEREAS, Unfortunately, even a great parent can unknowingly
leave behind a child in the back seat of a vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Risk factors that may lead to heatstroke in children
left in a vehicle include a caregiver who is not accustomed to
driving with a child in the vehicle and a caregiver whose
routine suddenly changes; and
WHEREAS, Heatstroke deaths have been recorded every month of
the year in nearly all 50 states, including Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, July 31 is recognized as "National Heatstroke
Prevention Day"; and
WHEREAS, We can all help to reduce the number of injuries and
deaths caused by heatstroke by raising public awareness of the

importance of preventing these senseless tragedies from
occurring; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate July 31, 2018, as
"Heatstroke Prevention Day" in Pennsylvania.
