A RESOLUTION
Congratulating The Pennsylvania State University wrestling team
on its seventh National Collegiate Athletic Association
Division I Wrestling Championship in the past eight years.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestling team won
its seventh National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Division I Wrestling Championship in the past eight years, its
third consecutive championship and eighth team title overall;
and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestling Head
Coach Cael Sanderson won his seventh NCAA Division I Wrestling
Championship, solidifying him as having the fifth most
championship wins as a head coach in the sport's history; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Zain
Retherford won his ninety-fourth straight win and third
consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the 149-pound division, won
the 2018 Big Ten Wrestler of the Year award, earned the Most
Dominant Wrestler award in his weight class with an average of
5.19 points per match, accumulated the second most falls in all
of Division I, earned the All-American distinction for the

fourth time and won the 2018 Hodge Trophy for the nation's top
wrestler for the second consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Jason
Nolf won his second consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the 157-
pound division, earned the Most Dominant Wrestler award in his
weight class with an average of 4.37 points per match,
accumulated the fifth most falls in all of Division I and earned
the All-American distinction for the third time; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Vincenzo
Joseph won his second consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the
165-pound division and earned the All-American distinction for
the second time; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Mark Hall
placed second in the 174-pound division, earned the Most
Dominant Wrestler award in his weight class with an average of
4.52 points per match, accumulated the seventh most falls in all
of Division I and earned the All-American distinction for the
second time; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State University wrestler Bo Nickal
won his second consecutive NCAA wrestling title in the 184-pound
division, earned the Most Dominant Wrestler award in his weight
class with an average of 4.81 points per match, accumulated the
third most falls in all of Division I, earned the All-American
distinction for the third time and was the runner-up for the
2018 Hodge Trophy given to the nation's top wrestler; and
WHEREAS, Sixteen individuals on The Pennsylvania State
University's 38-person roster were named to the 2018 Winter
Academic All-Big Ten Conference team with individual grade point
averages over 3.00; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate congratulate The Pennsylvania State
