A RESOLUTION
Designating May 25, 2018, as "Missing Adult Persons Remembrance
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, On any given day, it is estimated there are at least
20,000 missing adult persons in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Currently more than 200 adults in this Commonwealth
are among the missing; and
WHEREAS, Persons go missing for a variety of reasons,
including mental illness, addiction, abduction, natural
disasters and intentional disappearance; and
WHEREAS, Missing adult person cases are difficult to solve
due to a lack of crime scene and forensic evidence; and
WHEREAS, Since the reporting of missing adult persons is
voluntary, the reporting rate is very low; and
WHEREAS, Even when missing adults are reported, Federal,
State, local and nonprofit databases are not connected, making
it challenging for advocates to share information; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Police, local law enforcement
