A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of May 2018 as "Junior Achievement Month"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement is the world's largest
organization dedicated to educating students about work force
development, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through
experiential, hands-on programs; and
WHEREAS, More than 6,000 business, community and parent
volunteers touch the lives of more than 200,000 students in
kindergarten through grade 12 in public and private school
systems in this Commonwealth with a message of hope and
prosperity for the future and prepare students to be the
workers, leaders and educated consumers of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement programs help prepare young
people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth
and effectively manage it, create jobs which make their
communities more robust and apply entrepreneurial thinking in

the workplace; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement empowers young people to own
their economic success; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the boundless
potential of young people, is committed to the principles of
market-based economics and entrepreneurship and is passionate
about what individuals do while practicing honesty, integrity
and excellence; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement respects the talents, creativity,
perspectives and backgrounds of all individuals; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement believes in the power of
partnership and collaboration and has conviction in the
educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on
learning; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement sustains our democracy by
strengthening communities with proven programs that focus on
work force development, entrepreneurship and financial literacy;
and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement commemorates the 79th anniversary
of its founding in this Commonwealth in 2018; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of May 2018 as
"Junior Achievement Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
Dennis Gilfoyle, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania,
5001 Centre Avenue, Second Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
