A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of October 2017 as "Polish American
Heritage Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, This year marks the 36th anniversary of "Polish
American Heritage Month" and the 409th anniversary of Polish
settlers arriving in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Individuals of Polish heritage have contributed
greatly to global advancement and the growth of the United
States and Pennsylvania in particular in the more than 400 years
since the first Polish immigrants settled here; and
WHEREAS, Polish notables include Ignacy Jan Paderewski, one
of the most famous and popular pianists of all time and an
advocate for Polish freedom, who was born more than 150 years
ago in Warsaw and who died in 1941 in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Individuals of Polish heritage have demonstrated
exceptional skills in a vast array of professional fields; and
WHEREAS, Individuals of Polish heritage will mark the 238th
anniversary of the death of General Casimir Pulaski, "Father of
