A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of October 21 through 27, 2018, as "Pro
Bono Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Attorneys in this Commonwealth provide legal
assistance at a low cost or no cost, commonly referred to as
"pro bono" work, to more than 100,000 low-income clients each
year, including 10,000 mortgage foreclosure cases and 12,000
domestic violence cases; and
WHEREAS, The tenth annual "National Pro Bono Week" will be
celebrated at the end of October 2018; and
WHEREAS, "National Pro Bono Week" is an opportunity to
highlight the differences that attorneys make in their
communities, recruit and train more pro bono attorneys and
acknowledge the partnerships of bar associations that form the
basis for the most successful pro bono efforts; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Bar Association is joining with the
American Bar Association to sponsor October's annual "National
Pro Bono Week" celebration; and
WHEREAS, "National Pro Bono Week" provides numerous

opportunities to highlight the good work attorneys do in this
Commonwealth for the neediest among us; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is celebrating "National Pro Bono Week"
with events across this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of October 21
through 27, 2018, as "Pro Bono Week" in Pennsylvania.
