AN ACT
Amending Title 44 (Law and Justice) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, providing for blood type information;
and making editorial changes.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The heading of Part II of Title 44 of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
PART II
[PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE] PROCEDURES
Section 2. Part III of Title 44 is repealed:

BADGES AND UNIFORMS
Sec.
6301. Blood type information.
ยง 6301. Blood type information.
(a) Badge or identification.--Subject to subsection (b), a
law enforcement officer may wear a separate badge or other
identification on the officer's official uniform that provides
information regarding the officer's blood type.
(b) Requirements.--The badge or other identification under
this section shall be uniform in size and lettering and be
approved by the entity with direct supervision over the law
enforcement officer.
(c) Permissible nature.--Nothing in this section shall
require a law enforcement officer to wear the badge or other
identification under this section.
(d) Cost.--The cost of the badge or other identification
under this section shall be paid by the following:
(1) The Pennsylvania State Police if the law enforcement
officer is a member of the Pennsylvania State Police.
(2) The county in which the sheriff or deputy sheriff is
elected or appointed.
(3) The municipality in which the constable or deputy
constable is elected or appointed.

(4) The municipality that employs the law enforcement
officer.
(e) Rules and regulations.--The Pennsylvania State Police
shall promulgate rules and regulations to carry out the
provisions of this section.
(f) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following
words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this
subsection unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Law enforcement officer." Any of the following:
(1) A member of the Pennsylvania State Police.
(2) A sheriff or deputy sheriff.
(3) A constable or deputy constable.
(4) A police officer for a municipality.
"Municipality." A county, city, borough, incorporated town
or township.
Section 5. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
