A RESOLUTION
Designating March 21, 2018, as "Rosie the Riveter Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Rosie the Riveter was the star of the United States
government's campaign recruiting women into defense industries
during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Rosie the Riveter became a cultural icon
representing the women who filled the vacant positions left open
by the 16 million American men who served in the armed forces
during World War II; and
WHEREAS, These women worked in the Armorcast tank factory in
Berks County, built ships at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard,
assembled anti-aircraft guns at the Naval Ordnance Plant in
York, York County, repaired railroad cars for the Pennsylvania
Railroad, assisted with the production of heavy trucks at the
Mack Plant in Allentown, Lehigh County, and overhauled battle-
