WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals was formed in the

spring of 1998; and

WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals is a group of

young, active, civic-minded professionals possessing a clear

vision of Harrisburg's future as a great place to live, work and

play; and

WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals supports the

movement to breathe new life into urban areas and to promote

residential and commercial development; and

WHEREAS, The outreach projects and streetscape work of the

community; and

WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals works to prevent

the migration of educated young people to larger cities and to

encourage those who have left the area to return to the central

Pennsylvania region; and

WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals grew rapidly and

now has more than 1,500 members, in addition to many other

participants in its successful year-round sports leagues; and

WHEREAS, The Harrisburg Young Professionals maintains contact

with employers about retaining quality talent and ensures that

the Harrisburg Young Professionals.
