A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of August 2018 as "Stevens-Johnson
Syndrome Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal
necrolysis syndrome, another form of SJS, are severe allergic
reactions to prescription and over-the-counter medications; and
WHEREAS, Those afflicted with SJS experience severe
inflammation of the mucus membranes and, if left untreated, SJS
can result in blindness, other serious health problems and
death; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Stevens Johnson Syndrome
Foundation has remained true to its mission and goal of
providing support, education and advocacy through the
compilation and distribution of valuable information about SJS
to the public and medical professionals regarding treatments and
therapies; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
