A RESOLUTION
Recognizing Coach Pat Chambers and The Pennsylvania State
University men's basketball team for becoming the National
Invitation Tournament champions in 2018.
WHEREAS, On March 29, 2018, the National Invitation
Tournament (NIT) championship game was held at Madison Square
Garden in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Coach Pat Chambers and The Pennsylvania State
University men's basketball team, the Penn State Nittany Lions,
emerged victorious over the University of Utah men's basketball
team, the Utah Utes; and
WHEREAS, The Penn State Nittany Lions scored a total of 82
points over the Utah Utes' 66 points; and
WHEREAS, As with the games against the University of Notre
Dame, Marquette University and Mississippi State University, the

Penn State Nittany Lions overwhelmed the Utah Utes with superior
athleticism, shot-making and overall ability; and
WHEREAS, The Penn State Nittany Lions dominated every phase
and every part of the floor, and the team won its second NIT
championship in nine years before the largest crowd of a NIT
championship game since 2005; and
WHEREAS, For the second straight game, the Penn State Nittany
Lions used a huge scoring spurt to earn its second NIT title;
and
WHEREAS, Leading 43-41, the Penn State Nittany Lions closed
out the third quarter on a 20-7 run, and the team was not
threatened in the fourth quarter; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize Coach
Pat Chambers and The Pennsylvania State University men's
basketball team for becoming the National Invitation Tournament
champions in 2018.
