A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of June 3 through 9, 2018, as "Community
Theatre Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Theatrical performance is a universal cultural
phenomenon, existing in every society around the world and,
since the dawn of antiquity, has helped us to understand the
human experience; and
WHEREAS, Community theatres are a vital component of a
community's social fabric, providing quality entertainment and
intellectual stimulation by introducing audiences to new worlds
of experience, emotion and knowledge; and
WHEREAS, Artistic outreach and educational programs organized
by community theatres enhance the academic lives of children of
all socio-economic backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, The unparalleled dedication and passion of community
theatre crews gives new life to classic stories and supports the
work of up-and-coming writers, directors and performers; and

WHEREAS, Through the creation of unmatched and transformative
experiences that have empowered and encouraged audiences of all
ages to expand and challenge their perspectives, community
theatres have significantly impacted the cultural landscape of
this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of June 3 through 9, 2018, as "Community Theatre Week" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
community theatres throughout this Commonwealth that have
enriched countless lives as the theatrical community celebrates
the outstanding accomplishments of its members at the 72nd
Annual Tony Awards in New York City, New York.
