APRIL 6, 2018
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing April 19, 2018, as "National D.A.R.E. Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Community-based prevention and treatment programs
provide positive role models and reinforce positive behaviors
among young residents of this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Empowered with the appropriate decision-making
skills, young residents of this Commonwealth can choose
alternatives to violent and dangerous behaviors, including
bullying and drug experimentation or dependence; and
WHEREAS, "National D.A.R.E. Day" marks the progress of Drug
Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs in our
communities and honors participating students, officers, schools
and law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. program educators, family members and
exemplary students who have made a commitment to remain drug-

free are appropriate role models for other students; and
WHEREAS, Graduates of the program contribute to the safety of
our communities by resisting unsafe behaviors, having learned
that violence and substance abuse affect a user, as well as a
user's family and community; and
WHEREAS, Graduates of the program have further learned the
importance of open communication with their parents and mentors
in their school and community; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize April
19, 2018, as "National D.A.R.E. Day" in Pennsylvania.
