A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of October 2017 as "Dysautonomia Awareness
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Dysautonomia is a group of medical conditions that
result in a malfunction of the automatic nervous system, which
is responsible for essential bodily functions such as
respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and
temperature control; and
WHEREAS, Many forms of dysautonomia are considered rare or
orphan diseases, such as multiple system atrophy and pure
autonomic failure, while other forms are quite common, such as
diabetic autonomic neuropathy, neurocardiogenic syncope and
postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome; and
WHEREAS, There is a lack of awareness about the forms of
dysautonomia amongst the medical community and the general
public; and
WHEREAS, Dysautonomia can impact individuals of all ages,
