A RESOLUTION
Recognizing September 11, 2017, as the 16th anniversary of the
September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda attacks on our nation and
honoring the sacrifices of the victims and first responders.
WHEREAS, The September 11, 2001, attacks were a series of
four coordinated terrorist attacks masterminded by Osama bin
Laden; and
WHEREAS, Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked planes to execute
suicide attacks on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in
New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC; and
WHEREAS, Terrorists attempted to attack another target on
that fateful day but were unsuccessful: a third hijacked plane
crashed into a field in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County;
and
WHEREAS, The heroic efforts of the passengers of United
