A RESOLUTION
Directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to study
vote-recording systems for the House of Representatives.
WHEREAS, The electronic system for recording votes in the
House of Representatives is critical to the operation of the
General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, That electronic system requires maintenance,
including upgrading as necessary; and
WHEREAS, Upgrading that electronic system raises significant
questions as to available technology, security and cost;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives direct the
Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to study electronic
systems for recording votes in legislative chambers; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the committee consider the size of this
Commonwealth and the full-time status of the General Assembly in
its review of electronic systems; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the committee identify available technology

and security; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the committee identify potential vendors; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the committee provide cost estimates; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That, within 90 days of the adoption of this
resolution, the committee submit a report of the study to the
Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives.
