AN ACT
Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in firearms and other dangerous
articles, further providing for limitation on the regulation
of firearms and ammunition.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 6120(a) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended and the section is amended by
adding a subsection to read:
ยง 6120. Limitation on the regulation of firearms and
ammunition.
(a) General rule.--[No] Except as provided in subsection
(a.4), no county, municipality or township may in any manner
regulate the lawful ownership, possession, transfer or
transportation of firearms, ammunition or ammunition components
when carried or transported for purposes not prohibited by the
laws of this Commonwealth.

(a.4) Exception.--The following apply:

(1) Subsection (a) does not prohibit a county, township
or municipality from restricting or prohibiting by ordinance
the possession of firearms on property owned by the county,
township or municipality, including, but not limited to,
municipal buildings and playgrounds.
(2) An ordinance enacted under paragraph (1) shall
require that notice of the restriction or prohibition,
together with the ordinance citation, be conspicuously posted
in a manner reasonably likely to come to the attention of
individuals entering the property.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
