AN ACT
Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in rules of the road in general, further providing
for prohibiting text-based communications.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 3316(d) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
ยง 3316. Prohibiting text-based communications.

(d) Penalty.--A person who violates subsection (a) commits a
summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay
[a fine of $50.] the following:
(1) For a first offense, a fine of $250.
(2) For a second offense, a fine of $500.
(3) For a third or subsequent offense, a fine of $750.

Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
