AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in preliminary provisions, providing
for academic impact of scores on Keystone Exams.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 121.1. Academic Impact of Scores on Keystone
Exams.--(a) Notwithstanding any regulation to the contrary,
beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, a school entity shall
have the sole discretion to determine the academic impact of
students' scores on the Keystone Exams developed by the
Department of Education in accordance with section 121.
(b) The academic impact may include, but shall not be
limited to:

(1) weighting in the subject matter course grade;
(2) determination of course credit;
(3) indications of need for remediation in a subject area;
or
(4) satisfaction of a school entity's graduation
requirements.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
