AN ACT
Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
welfare laws of the Commonwealth," in public assistance,
providing for effect of postsecondary education and work
force training on subsidized child care.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
as the Human Services Code, is amended by adding a section to
read:
Section 408.4. Effect of Postsecondary Education and Work
Force Training on Subsidized Child Care.--(a) Notwithstanding
any other provision of law or departmental regulation and
subject to availability of funding, if the parent or caretaker
of a child enrolled in subsidized child care is enrolled in a
postsecondary education program or work force training program,
the parent or caretaker shall be eligible for the assistance for
at least two (2) years of the postsecondary education or work
force training, so long as all other eligibility requirements

are satisfied during the two-year period.
(b) In administering the assistance, priority may be given
to a working family over a family with a parent or caretaker who
is enrolled in a postsecondary education program or work force
training program.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
