A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 6 through 12, 2016, as "Nurses Week"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association is the
professional association for nurses in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1903, the Pennsylvania State Nurses
Association has been an essential advocate for nurses, leading,
educating and connecting nurses to improve the health of
patients in this Commonwealth for more than 113 years; and
WHEREAS, "National Nurses Week" begins May 6 and ends May 12
each year, in conjunction with Florence Nightingale's birthday;
and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has 218,000 registered nurses,
including approximately 55,000 licensed practical nurses and
12,000 advanced practice registered nurses which makes nursing
the largest licensed health care profession in this
Commonwealth; and
