A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of October 2016 as "American Pharmacist
and Pharmacy Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pharmacists and pharmacies are responsible for
substantial contributions to health care in all practice
settings in this Commonwealth and across the nation; and
WHEREAS, As of May 2015, this Commonwealth had 12,830
pharmacists working toward improving medication use by reducing
abuse and advancing patient care in all practice settings; and
WHEREAS, The American Pharmacists Association's theme "Know
Your Pharmacist, Know Your Medicine" promotes the pharmacist's
role in health care and underscores that pharmacists are an
integral part of a patient's treatment; and
WHEREAS, "American Pharmacist and Pharmacy Month" is a time
to thank our pharmacists for the work they do and to promote

medicinal education to the public, especially in a time when
health care and prescription drug abuse are major issues facing
this Commonwealth and the nation; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of October 2016 as "American Pharmacist and Pharmacy
Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
Pennsylvanians to take time to participate in the observance of
"American Pharmacist and Pharmacy Month" to recognize and thank
pharmacists for their contributions.
