A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of April 2016 as "Child Identity Theft
Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, identity theft is America's fastest growing crime; and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, 9.9 million Americans were victims of identity theft in
2011; and
WHEREAS, According to the United States Postal Inspection
Service, losses incurred by Americans victimized by identity
theft totaled approximately $5 billion in 2011; and
WHEREAS, More than 140,000 children are victims of identity
theft annually in the United States according to a study
conducted by ID Analytics; and
WHEREAS, The Federal Trade Commission testified before
Congress that child identity theft is especially pernicious
