A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the Jewish Healthcare Foundation of Pittsburgh on
its 25th anniversary.
WHEREAS, The Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF) was
established in 1990 with proceeds from the sale of Montefiore
Hospital, a health care institution financed and founded by
Pittsburgh's Jewish community; and
WHEREAS, Montefiore Hospital opened in 1908 to meet the
health care needs of a growing and underserved Jewish population
in western Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, Montefiore Hospital instituted Pittsburgh's first
night clinic for social diseases and facilitated periodic
checkups for underprivileged persons; and
WHEREAS, Montefiore Hospital's emphasis on compassion and
excellence in the delivery of health care services has informed
JHF's overall mission; and
WHEREAS, Today, JHF and its two operating arms, the
