A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the first consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday of
each month during 2015 as "National Small Business Weekend"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The National Small Business Weekend Organization
helps to promote the idea of purchasing locally by urging people
to shop small businesses on the first weekend of each month; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses employ 60 million Americans who
live and work in area neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses are a driving force behind our
nation's economy, creating nearly two out of every three new
jobs and generating close to 50% of our nation's nonfarm gross
domestic product; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses represent 99.7% of employer firms
in the United States; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has the sixth largest labor force

in the nation with more than 6.4 million workers; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses represent 94.2% of employer firms
in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses are innovators, and their concerns
serve to advance technology and productivity; and
WHEREAS, Promoting locally made products and supporting small
businesses will further strengthen our national economy and
encourage businesses to offer more American-made products;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives acknowledge the
National Small Business Weekend Organization for the good work
it does in promoting the buy local, buy American campaign; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
first consecutive Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each month
during 2015 as "National Small Business Weekend" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the National Small Business Weekend Organization, 308 Walnut
Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
