A RESOLUTION
Honoring Rocco Mediate for his outstanding career as a
professional golfer.
WHEREAS, Rocco Mediate was born December 17, 1962, in
Greensburg; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mediate attended Florida Southern College and
was a member of the golf team, leading the college to the 1985
Division II national team championship; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mediate turned professional in 1985; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, Mr. Mediate became the first player to win
on the PGA Tour by using a long putter when he won the Doral-
Ryder Open; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mediate has been featured in the top 20 of the
Official World Golf Ranking and is considered to be one of the
best putters in golf; and
WHEREAS, The most notable moment of Mr. Mediate's career was
during the 2008 U.S. Open at the Torrey Pines South course where

he finished runner-up after losing in an 18-hole playoff to
Tiger Woods; and
WHEREAS, In 2010, Mr. Mediate became the oldest wire-to-wire
winner on the PGA Tour since at least 1970; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mediate has a total of twelve professional wins,
including six PGA Tour wins, two Champions Tour wins and four
additional wins; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mediate is currently on the PGA Tour and
Champions Tour; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor Rocco
Mediate for his outstanding career as a professional golfer.
