AN ACT
Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in governance of the
system, further providing for establishment of fees and
charges.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1725(c) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
§ 1725. Establishment of fees and charges.
(c) Counties of the first class.--

(1.1) Notwithstanding any other provision of this
section:
(i) The following fees shall be received by the
prothonotary of a county of the first class:
Appointment of special investigator ........ $25.00
Appointment of special psychiatrist ........ 25.00
Bail-Piece ................................. 25.00
Bail bond entering of all types, including

(ii) The fee for any service not specifically
provided for in subparagraph (i) shall be the same as for
a similar service at the discretion of the prothonotary.
(iii) The prothonotary shall not be required to
perform any service until the requisite fee is paid.
(iv) Beginning on January 1, 2018, and each January
1 thereafter, the prothonotary may, with the approval of
the president judge, periodically increase any fee or
charge imposed as of the effective date of this
paragraph. However, no such fee or charge may be
increased more than once in any three-year period, and
the amount of any increase may not be greater than the
percentage of increase in the Consumer Price Index for
Urban Workers for the immediate three years preceding the
last increase in the fee or charge.
