AN ACT
Designating a portion of State Route 2005 in Drexel Hill,
Delaware County, as the Officer Dennis McNamara Memorial
Highway.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Officer Dennis McNamara Memorial Highway.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
follows:
(1) Officer Dennis McNamara was born July 4, 1958, and
graduated from West Catholic High School.
(2) Officer McNamara served in the United States Air
Force from February 1981 to February 1987 where he developed
a background in military intelligence and was a linguist in
several Middle Eastern languages.
(3) Officer McNamara joined the Upper Darby Police Force
in July 1993 where he served for eight years before giving

his life in the line of duty.
(4) On January 30, 2002, Officer McNamara was
investigating a suspicious vehicle and occupant in the
Cardington Section of Upper Darby before being fatally
wounded as he exited his vehicle.
(b) Designation.--The section of State Route 2005, known as
Lansdowne Avenue, Delaware County, from State Road to School
Lane is hereby designated the Officer Dennis McNamara Memorial
Highway.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the road to
traffic in both directions on the road.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
