AN ACT
Redesignating DESIGNATING the Conodoguinet Bridge on that
portion of State Route 641 over the Conodoguinet Creek,
Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, as the Army Pfc. Harold
"Sam" E. Barrick Memorial Bridge.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Army Pfc. Harold "Sam" E. Barrick Memorial Bridge.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds that:
(1) Harold "Sam" E. Barrick was born on December 16,
1947, in Newville, Cumberland County, and graduated from Big
Spring High School in 1965.
(2) He joined the United States Army and entered service
in August 1967 and served with the American division in
Vietnam beginning January 1968.
(3) Pfc. Harold "Sam" E. Barrick was killed in action in

Vietnam on April 8, 1968.
(4) Prior to his death, Pfc. Barrick was awarded the
National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and
the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon.
(5) He also received the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple
Heart and the Good Conduct Medal, which were awarded
posthumously.
(b) Redesignation DESIGNATION.--The Conodoguinet Bridge
located on State Route 641 in Hopewell Township, Cumberland
County, over the Conodoguinet Creek is hereby designated the
Army Pfc. Harold "Sam" E. Barrick Memorial Bridge.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
traffic in both directions on the bridge.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
