A RESOLUTION

 

1Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Chiefs
2of Police Association.

3WHEREAS, June 2014 will mark the 100th anniversary of the
4reorganization of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association;
5and

6WHEREAS, The present association is a reincarnation of a
7defunct predecessor originally established in 1894; and

8WHEREAS, In June 1914, a meeting of the police heads from
9this Commonwealth was held, executive officers were elected and
10the revamped association was born; and

11WHEREAS, The association is a professional organization of
12chiefs of police and other executives of police, public safety
13and private law enforcement organizations across this
14Commonwealth; and

1WHEREAS, The association provides a vehicle through which
2members can converge, examine their positions on issues and
3address the needs of their colleagues; and

4WHEREAS, The association prides itself on its core values,
5which include accountability, continuous improvement, diversity,
6education and training, human life, innovation, the laws and
7Constitution of this Commonwealth, problem solving, compassion,
8cooperation, excellence, fairness, inclusion, integrity,
9personal autonomy and professionalism; and

10WHEREAS, In fulfilling its mission, the association requires
11the support of the residents and elected officials of this
12Commonwealth and the association's staff in order to provide the
13quality of service which the association's values commit it to
14provide; and

15WHEREAS, The association's members aim to be respected
16leaders in their communities, this Commonwealth, the United
17States of America and internationally; and

18WHEREAS, The association promotes the professional and
19personal development of its members through innovative services,
20training, peer counseling and comradery; and

21WHEREAS, The association makes a positive impact on the
22quality of life in the communities which its members serve,
23through proactive leadership in community partnerships, ethics
24and integrity, knowledge and information dissemination, media
25relations, professional standards, vision and innovative change
26and promotion of legislation which advances the mission of the
27association before the United States Congress and the
28Pennsylvania General Assembly; therefore be it

29RESOLVED, That the Senate commemorate the 100th anniversary
30of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association; and be it

2RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
3the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.
