1Designating the week of July 21 through 27, 2013, as "Probation,
2Parole and Community Supervision Week" in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, Community corrections is an essential part of the
4justice system; and

5WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals uphold the law
6with dignity, while recognizing the right of the public to be
7safeguarded from criminal activity; and

8WHEREAS, The responsibilities of community corrections
9professionals include the supervision of adult and juvenile
10offenders in the community; and

11WHEREAS, The community corrections professionals are trained
12professionals who provide services and referrals for offenders;
13and

14WHEREAS, Working in partnership with community agencies and
15groups, community corrections professionals promote prevention,
16intervention and advocacy; and

17WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals provide

1services, support and protection for victims and advocate
2community and restorative justice; and

3WHEREAS, Community corrections professionals are a true force
4for positive change in their communities; therefore be it

5RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of July 21
6through 27, 2013, as "Probation, Parole and Community
7Supervision Week" in Pennsylvania and encourage all citizens to
8honor these professionals and recognize their achievements.
