AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for transfers from State Gaming
3Fund.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1408(c) of Title 4 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 1408. Transfers from State Gaming Fund.

10(c) Local law enforcement grants.--The following apply:

11(1) Annually, the sum of $2,000,000 shall be transferred
12to the board for the purpose of issuing grants to local law
13enforcement agencies to investigate violations of and enforce 
14laws relating to unlawful gambling in this Commonwealth. For 
15purposes of this subsection, the term "local law enforcement 
16agency" shall include the Pennsylvania State Police when 
17conducting unlawful gambling enforcement and prevention 
18activities in a municipality which does not have a municipal
 

1police department and in which the Pennsylvania State Police 
2provide the municipality with primary police coverage.

3(2) From the amount transferred under paragraph (1), the
4sum of $250,000 shall be transferred annually from the board
5to the Attorney General. The annual transfer is for the
6purpose of issuing grants to district attorney offices to
7investigate and prosecute violations of and enforce laws
8relating to illegal gambling involving animal fighting
9prohibited under 18 Pa.C.S. § 5511 (relating to cruelty to
10animals). The Attorney General shall publish guidelines in
11the Pennsylvania Bulletin providing for application and award
12of grants under this paragraph within 60 days of the
13effective date of this paragraph. The initial transfer under
14this paragraph shall occur on July 1, 2014, and subsequent
15transfers shall occur each July 1 thereafter. The grants
16under this paragraph must be available in the 2014-2015
17fiscal year and each fiscal year thereafter.

19Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
