1Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
3collection of restitution.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 9728(b)(5) of Title 42 of the
7Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 9728. Collection of restitution, reparation, fees, costs,
9fines and penalties.

11(b) Procedure.--

13(5) The county correctional facility to which the
14offender has been sentenced or the Department of Corrections
15shall [be authorized to] make monetary deductions from inmate
16personal accounts for the purpose of collecting restitution
17or any other court-ordered obligation or costs imposed under
18section 9721(c.1). [Any] The amount deducted shall be

1transmitted by the Department of Corrections or the county
2correctional facility to the probation department of the
3county or other agent designated by the county commissioners
4of the county with the approval of the president judge of the
5county in which the offender was convicted. The Department of
6Corrections shall develop guidelines relating to its
7responsibilities under this paragraph.
