AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2act relating to the public school system, including certain
3provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5laws relating thereto," providing for film approval by a
6parent or guardian.

7The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8hereby enacts as follows:

9Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
10as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
11section to read:

12Section 1526. Film approval by a parent or guardian.--Prior
13to displaying, as part of its educational program, a motion
14picture rated "R" or "NC-17" by the Motion Picture Association
15of America, a school district shall:

16(1) Notify and obtain written consent from all parents or
17guardians of all students enrolled in the class in which the
18motion picture is to be displayed.

19(2) If any parent or guardian of any student enrolled in the
20class in which the motion picture is to be displayed objects or

1fails to provide written consent to the display of the motion
2picture, not display the motion picture during the current
3school year.

4Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
